Seems like every year, a few more Minnesota State Troopers get hit by other
vehicles on our roadways. Somewhat ironic that the people given the responsibility
to keep our roadways safe are in fact hit very often while trying to do our job.
The pictures that are here are not meant to do anything
other than bring some attention to the dangers State Trooper's and many other Law
Enforcement Officers face each day at work. Many Trooper's have always said that
they fear being hit more than being shot.
Remember, this is our Work Zone! Slow down and give
us some room to work without the fear of being hit.
Move Over!!

This squad is the same one pictured at the top of this page. In April of '97 a semi
(the trailer can be seen in the background) rear-ended this squad while it was parked on
the shoulder. The jack-knifed semi then caused about 30 vehicle pile-up. The
squad was occupied at the time by Trooper Jeff Westrum and no, I didn't get hurt too bad.

This State Trooper was on a traffic stop along I-94 near Sauk Centre. Unfortunately, the Trooper was standing next to the
violators car just ahead of the squad when the semi came over onto the
shoulder, striking the squad car, the violators car and the Trooper.
Luckily, the Trooper was able to see the semi coming and make a move to
try to get out of the way. The Trooper was struck and spent hours in
surgery, trying to repair his leg. Thankfully, they were able to
repair the leg and and are hopeful for a full recovery after months of
rehab. This happened in June of 2007.
